Marion JOAN Mattingly

Joan grew up in the DC suburbs, the eldest of eight children. She completed her undergraduate studies at Barat College (Lake Forest), earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. During summers, she served an internship in the White House and was a Copy Girl for the New York Daily News (Washington Bureau). 

 

Joan is a dedicated public servant, a qualified professional, a demonstrated leader, and a committed and nonpartisan community member.  She is extraordinarily prepared to be City Clerk of Park Ridge.

Duties and Responsiblities 

The City Clerk of Park Ridge, Illinois has many responsibilities, including:

  • Record keeping: The City Clerk is responsible for keeping records of City Council proceedings and all important documents related to City business. 

  • Attending meetings: The City Clerk attends City Council meetings and coordinates all aspects of them, including agendas and public comment. 

  • Publishing ordinances and resolutions: The City Clerk publishes and attests to all ordinances and resolutions passed by the City Council. 

  • Delivering communications: The City Clerk delivers communications and resolutions from the City Council to the city's departments. 

  • Administering oaths of office: The City Clerk administers oaths of office. 

  • Conducting elections: The City Clerk conducts all election duties as required by law. 

  • Works with Cook County to Register Voters

  • Informing the Public: The City Clerk informs the public of the Clerk's  services at events such as the Taste of Park Ridge, Chamber of Commerce, and Farmer's Market. 

 

A City Clerk is a local government employee who serves the Mayor, City Council, City Manager, and all administrative departments. The role requires versatility, alertness, accuracy, and patience. 

Marion JOAN Mattingly has the energy, intelligence, knowledge and fortitude to continue serving Park Ridge as its City Clerk.

She will fulfill these duties, she will also work in any capacity to improve the city she loves.
